HISTORY

"I WANNA DIE."

Louis met Lestat at a brothel and they spent a year together as friends before Louis let himself be seduced by Lestat. Scared by what he'd done, Louis broke off contact and attempted to return to life as he'd known it. But after his younger brother committed suicide, Louis spiraled. He tried drowning his grief in drink, eventually seeking refuge in a church, admitting his sins in confession and professing his desire to die. Lestat arrived, killed the priests, and proposed to Louis that he become a vampire. Louis accepted, and Lestat turned him, beginning their vampiric life together.

"THE THING LAY STILL."

Louis and Lestat lived together for thirty years. Their tumultuous relationship expanded to include a third: Claudia, turned at fourteen by Lestat at Louis' insistence and raised as their daughter. As Louis and Lestat's relationship became increasingly broken, relations between Lestat and Claudia similarly fractured. Claudia wanted to kill Lestat, and Louis agreed to participate. When the moment came, Louis was the one to cut Lestat's throat and bleed him to the point of incapacitation. Louis refused to allow Claudia to incinerate Lestat and instead put him into his coffin, allowing Lestat to survive.

"WHAT WAS LEFT TO ENDURE FOR? CLAUDIA IS DEAD."

Claudia hoped to find other vampires, and she embarked on her search for them with Louis in tow. Their wanderings eventually lead them to Paris where they met a coven of vampires. While Claudia sought to join their ranks, Louis grew close to their leader, the ancient vampire Armand. Unbeknownst to Louis, the coven was planning his and Claudia's death, having recruited Lestat as star witness in a staged trial that ended in the death of Claudia and her newly-made companion and Louis' "banishment": enclosed in a rock-filled coffin and left to starve. Rescued by Armand, Louis exacted revenge by executing the coven, and spurning Lestat.

"AND THAT'S THE END OF IT. THERE'S NOTHING ELSE."

Having attempted an interview on one drug-filled night in the 1970s, Louis offered Daniel Molloy the opportunity to try again fifty years later. Louis embarked on the interview in hopes of finding truth. It was through Daniel's insight and instincts that Louis was able to uncover both memories that had been removed from his mind by Armand, and the revelation that Armand had directed the trial, intending Claudia and Louis to be killed, and Lestat had saved Louis from death, not Armand. Realizing the foundation upon which nearly eighty years of his life had been built on was a lie, Louis broke with Armand and banished him from his life.

STAT BOOST Upon turning, Louis received all the bog standard upgrades: increased speed and strength, heightened senses, retractable fangs, diamond-hard claws, increased endurance and healing abilities.

MIND GIFT Essentially, telepathy. Louis can hear and see the thoughts of humans, as well as implant suggestions and exert control over them, to an extent. Vampires can speak to each other telepathically, even from great distances. We are told Louis is not well-practiced at shielding his mind from other other vampires.
